Do not use if the eardrum is (or has been) damaged
Do not use if sensitive to ingredients, if you suffer from dizziness, or if there is any other ear disorder (such as pain, discharge, inflammation, infection or tinnitus), or if anything else has been used in the ear
Otex is not normally irritant but, in rare cases, painful episodes can occur, particularly if the ear’s delicate inner lining has been damaged, broken, inflamed or infected, whereupon the use of ear drops can be painful
Otex should therefore not be used, for example, after ill-advised mechanical efforts to dislodge wax or for 2-3 days after syringing
See enclosed leaflet for details, cautions and instructions
If in doubt, or if there is a history of ear problems, seek medical advice before use
Keep away from eyes
If irritation or pain occurs during use, or if symptoms persist, stop treatment and consult your doctor
The ear drops can make the symptoms of excessive ear wax worse, including some discomfort, irritation or pain, loss of hearing, dizziness and tinnitus (ringing sound in the ear). Very rarely, an unpleasant taste has been reported.
What are Otex Ear Drops and what are they used for?
Otex Ear Drops contain the active ingredient urea hydrogen peroxide to help break down hardened wax in your ears to help relieve temporary hearing difficulties and discomfort caused by a buil-up of ear wax. Earwax is a natural secretion of the ear. Its purpose is to provide a protective layer on the eardrum and in the ear. Sometimes too much wax is produced, which can result in issues with hearing and for some, it may even cause pain.
Otex solution is manufactured by Diomed Developments and comes in an 8ml easy-squeeze bottle that contains more than enough solution for one treatment. These drops are suitable for use by children, adults and the elderly. A normal course of treatment lasts for around 3-4 days.
How do Otex Ear Drops work?
Otex Ear Drops are used to help soften earwax to help ease hearing difficulties and pain caused by a an excess of hardened wax. Otex contains the active ingredient urea hydrogen peroxide. This ingredient works by releasing oxygen, which breaks up hardened earwax. Otex’s unique formula also has some antiseptic properties.
