Chickenpox is a very common illness in children causing very itchy, fluid-filled blisters. The symptoms of chickenpox usually will improve over time without treatment but it can be very hard to stop a child itching and scratching the blisters.
If your child is over the age of 1 year and is suffering from the itching caused by chickenpox then taking Piriton, daily while symptoms last, can help to make your child feel more comfortable.
Other things that can help to make your child more comfortable include:
Making sure they are drinking adequate fluids to avoid dehydration
Dressing them in suitable clothing to avoid getting too hot or too cold
Keeping their nails short and clean
Giving them a children’s paracetamol
